CONFIRMATION DETAILS FOR YOUR SURF CAMP
ALL CAMPS ARE 10AM-1PM, MONDAY-FRIDAY

feel free to call with any questions whatsoever 760-635-7873 or Email

You must know how to swim, and be in reasonably good physical shape to attend a surf camp or surf lesson.

COVID RESTRICTIONS:

  •  Wearing a mask on the beach is required. (No mask in the water).
  • Maintain at least 6 feet of distance from others.
  • In  the water, try to maintain distance, except from the instructor.
  • Once you have a board, keep the same board.  You can get an instructor to carry it for you if you are 8-9-10 years old.  Older kids can carry their own boards.

We will not be supplying wetsuits.  You must have your own wetsuit. See below for tips on getting or fitting a wetsuit. THE OCEAN WATER TEMP USUALLY GETS WARM ENOUGH IN LATE JULY SO THAT WET-SUITS ARE NOT NECESSARY.   ANYTHING OVER 69 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT, AND NO WET-SUIT IS NECESSARY.  MAYBE A CHEAP RASH-GUARD FOR STOMACH RASHES FROM SURFING SO MUCH!
REFUSAL TO ADHERE TO COVID GUIDELINES WILL RESULT IN BEING DROPPED FROM SURF CAMP WITH NO REFUND.
It is unfortunate, and we will not like to do it, we must adhere to the state/city covid safety protocols.

Restrictions for 8 and 9 year olds
It is necessary to have a parent or guardian on the beach with them, to take care of their personal needs, as we do not supply that level of care. Also, if you think that they are going to need an instructor with them the entire time while in the water, then we are not able to do that either. We have a 3 to 1 ratio of students to instructors, so if we have to watch an 8 or 9 year old all the time, we are not able to do that.

We do group the real young kids together, keep them in the shallows, and watch them as a group, but we are not going to be able to give to any one student constant attention at all times in the water.

Some kids have been boogie boarding for a while, and if your child has some experience, or seems strong in the water, it will be fine.   But if it turns out that he needs constant attention, know we are not going to be able to do that, and unfortunately we will not be able to refund.

gps:  400 B Street, Encinitas, CA 92024
This is north across the street from the playground.

This is just as you enter the turnaround in the center of Moonlight Beach, the west end of Encinitas Blvd, which changes its name to B street as it goes West of Coast Highway.  It is on the north side of the playground, on the adjacent street.

Meet us at our van on the first day for check in.  On the following days, we will meet at our tent on the beach.

WHAT TO BRING:
Wetsuit or rash guard
Snack for the break
Water
Mask
Towel and t shirt

We are in the water most of the time.  We have a break in the middle of the session for snack and surfing related instruction.

TIPS FOR GETTING A WETSUIT
If the water temp gets to 68 and above, there is no need for a wetsuit.  This generally happens around mid to late July and will last well into September.  So wait and see if the water is warm or not.

Less expensive wetsuits for growing kids
Big 5
Dicks Sports
Play it Again Sports

More expensive wetsuits
Hansens Encinitas
Surf Ride Solana Beach
Mitch’s Surf Shop in Solana Beach and La Jolla

Wetsuit Rentals
Hansens in Encinitas has a lot and decent rate.

You must go into the shop to have the wetsuit fitted properly. It should fit tight, but not too tight. If it is too lose, it will fill with water. With growing kids, we recommend going the cheaper route at Big 5 or Dicks Sports.

Wetsuits come in different thickness.  There is 3/2 (3mm/2mm) and 4/3 mm.  You will only need the 3/2 for summer.  You can get a full suit or a spring suit. (Spring suit – short sleeves and short legs – not good for colder water/days.)

Feel free to call me if you have questions or issues about obtaining or fitting a wetsuit: 760-635-7873

If you are having problems securing a wetsuit, call me and I may have an old one I can sell you.

Unfortunately with Covid, we don’t feel confident disinfecting wetsuits that fit against the skin.
